Battlefield 2042 Technical Test FAQ Sheet So Far And What I've Noticed

Game looks cool and I’m excited for the release. Won’t preorder and you shouldn’t either of course. Below in categories I’ll list what I noticed while definitely not playing the tech preview.

I’ll add to this list as the test goes on and I see more footage of the test as I can’t play.

Can't add images or photos because all the gameplay is severely watermarked and blocking out usernames of people would basically make it pointless.

  • Graphics

    • Character models look good.

    • Map is big.

    • Lots of pop-in even on m.2 ssd.

    • Some textures don’t load or take their sweet time.

    • Looks like a console game.

    • A lot of in game objects and people did not look nearly as good as the playable character.

  • Movement

    • Guy jumps around like a champ and it feels good.

    • Climbing is good.

    • Grapple hook is super good and fun.

    • Guy runs fast which is a good thing, especially since the map is huge.

    • Movement feeling so good is going to get people off BF4 and onto this one, as long as the gunplay can match.

  • Gunplay

    • Shoots like a black ops game where you don’t really need to aim for head shots because you can’t really aim for head shots.

    • So much muzzle flash where it makes it hard to see when shooting.

    • Guns seem accurate but hard to tell when it’s 30fps locked.

  • Performance

    • None of the graphical settings worked for me, so I was stuck with medium settings locked to 30fps. Computer seemed to handle that perfectly fine and the fans never kicked up too much

      • computer was 2700k with 1070ti 32gb ddr4, 980 pro m.2 and 1080p

    • 30 fps was murder.

    • HDR did not work and you need to switch the monitor since none of the graphical settings stuck.

  • UI

    • Getting a kill was hard to know or notice if it happened as all you see was a little +10 points thing pop up.

Couldn't find the scoreboard like in BF4.

Game kept saying "Promoted" and it was the same rank over and over.

    • Enemies were sometimes highlighted with red.

    • Teammates sometimes failed to load a green icon above them which meant that you were often firing on your squad, good thing there isn’t friendly fire.

    • Selecting a spawn point was pretty good, except your teammates are the same color as the locations.

    • Easy to see ammo and your loadout.

    • Selecting a weapon was cool where it showed a little image of the guns and you could pick which one you wanted, but might work less well if the game ends up having as many weapons as BF4 had since your screen and your neighbors screens would need to be used to display all the various guns.

  • Settings and Options

    • Could not find keyboard config, so you couldn’t map stuff to mouse buttons.

    • A lot of controller options.

    • Couldn’t figure out how to prone.
